Did you know that cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of all Americans? In fact, someone dies every 38 seconds from this disease. The American Heart Association’s Heart Walk occurs yearly in 300+ cities across America to raise funds in support of various research and projects to help save lives from cardiovascular disease.
North Ohio Heart and Ohio Medical Group were proud to be a corporate participant in this worthy event and a sponsor for the Lorain County Heart Walk. The NOH-OMG team had over 80 employees, family members and friends participate this year and together raised over $10,000 for this event! The total raised for Lorain County’s Heart Walk exceeded $117,000.
At the event, North Ohio Heart was presented with the Gold Start! Fit Friendly Award from the American Heart Association. This is the second year North Ohio Heart has been honored with this distinguished award that recognizes companies who understand the importance of a healthy workplace for their employees. Recipients of this award create a culture of physical activity in the workplace and are frontrunners in promoting a culture of workplace wellness.
Dr. Don Sheldon, 2011 Heart Walk Chairperson, presented Gary Zrimec, CEO at North Ohio Heart-Ohio Medical Group with the "Distinguished Volunteer Achievement Award" that recognizes top volunteers for their efforts in the Community and the fight against heart disease. Gary received this award as a result of his AHA Board volunteer efforts. It was also announced that Gary will be the 2013 Heart Walk Chairperson.
Congratulations, Gary, and to all those who participated in this great event!
