8 Great Dates for Fit and Active Couples

February 18, 2015

date_fit_and_activeValentine’s Day has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the romance has to end.

If you and your partner have slipped into the habit of default dinner dates or Netflix on the couch this winter, it might be time to shake up your quality time together.

Stay fit and active with these eight great active date ideas to get you out of your rut.

1. Skiing

Maneuvering your way through snow is automatically great exercise, but skiing takes it to the next level by being a great workout for your legs and core. Spend a day with your partner on the slopes and then warm up with some hot chocolate. Not much of a skier? Even snow tubing can make for a fun and active date.

2. Bowling

While you might not burn as many calories as some of our other suggestions, a night at the lanes is still a great way to get moving and try something new. Make it interesting by placing a friendly wager on your game – loser buys dinner.

3. Try a New Fitness Class

It seems like new fitness trends are always popping up, and experiencing a new form of exercise with your loved one can be a surprisingly fun and invigorating idea for a date. Try a new-to-you yoga studio, check out Crossfit or join up with a local boot camp class.

4. Take a Dance Class

Don’t worry if you think you’re too uncoordinated – figuring out some new moves together will be half the fun. Sign up for salsa dancing lessons or bring on the romance with a tango class.

5. Indoor Rock-Climbing

The couple that belays together stays together, right? Visit an indoor rock-climbing studio to give your muscles a workout and get your adrenaline pumping.

6. Ice Skating

Holding hands around the rink is a great way to enjoy some childhood nostalgia while also getting in a fun workout. You don’t have to be a skating master to enjoy this fun activity— just bundle up and get out there.

7. Hiking

Though it might be a little cold for an afternoon hike right now, spring is just around the corner and prime hiking temperatures will be here before you know it. Not only is hiking great exercise, but the scenery can really set the tone for a romantic day. Check out this list of the best places to go hiking in northeast Ohio for inspiration, then pack a picnic lunch and make a day of it.

8. Jump Around At Sky Zone

There are still a few more months before Cedar Point opens, but you can still get your adrenaline fix at Sky Zone indoor trampoline park in Westlake. Take a trampoline fitness class together, play Sky Slam basketball or relive your childhood by jumping into the Foam Zone together.
